Here we go again!
On the weekend, I got a call from a friend of mine who works as an Inspector for the OSPCA. She had an assortment of animals that needed to be removed from a situation ASAP. Thankfully all were in good shape, but the family's situation had changed and the animals HAD to go right away.
So ...on Tuesday afternoon, I recieved our 6th PBP - Nicky. She is a beautiful black girl, very healthy, but Too Fat (I am sensing a trend and am thinking of naming our property the Fat Farm!). Yet another diet begins.
She is a bigger-framed pig than Daisy, but finer-boned (at least where I can SEE THEM!). Thankfully her feet are in good shape. I am hopeful that she will lose weight well - apparently they fed her a lot of sweets ... and with those gone from her diet, maybe the pounds will just melt away! We'll see.
Along with Nicky came: 3 geese and 11 ducks. There were three goats, which now live with my sister and her family, who will probably take a few of the ducks ... my poultry house isn't quite big enough for all this fowl!
The geese are living with Nicky in a large pen right now, but I plan to move them (once I figure out where to move them TO!), as they tend to muddy the waters (literally), and I want Nicky to drink as much as she can.
This am I introduced her to warm soup for breakfast ... she wasn't sure at first, but appled chubks helped, then I smeared some gruel on her snout, which she licked off, and then she was hooked!
Pictures shortly!
