Another take on Circe



This antique photogravure, published in 1889, shows the sorceress CIRCE waving her wand and turning men into animals -- in this case, hideous dragons and swine.

The artist was L. Chalou and the print is from Chefs-d'Oeuvre de L'Exposition Universelle de Paris, 1889, a collection of prints published that year by George Barrie, Philadelphia, illustrating art works exhibited at the Exhibition.
