We have a random assortment of fowl here ... mostly rescued ... altho I actively purchased the Guiniea fowl ... they make me laugh. I read once that they resemble army helmets streaking across the grass .... which is exactly their shape. These pics were taken a few weeks ago, on really the first NICE day here - the fowl were eager to bask.
My Gordon Setter is a sweet but simple soul ... however that "bird switch" in her brain is active! She would stand there for hours, if I let her!
The geese (gander shown) came with Nicky via the SPCA ... I like the idea of them (had always wanted a pair of "yard geese") - but in reality (at least in winter when confined) they are noisy and messy.
I am planning a "Running of the Fowl" for the early spring, to banish the waterfowl to the pond for the warm season ... the pond is several hundred metres from the barn, past the house, and am not sure they will find it on their own. Am working on plans for a simple shelter and electric net enclosure - mostly to protect them from predators.
