From a pig-friend, Laura. Our hearts go out to you, Laura!
~~~~~~~~~
I am shedding some tears over the passing of dear sweet Pig-pig. Pig-pig was a former resident of the Wilderness Ranch Sanctuary. Those who visited the Ranch knew Pig-pig well. Keagan stayed with Pig-pig when he first arrived at the Ranch--she was like a mother to him. She had big red floppy ears and always seemed to have a mischievous smile on her face.
She had been born on a farm. Her leg was injured when she was a small piglet. The farmer's wife decided to hand raise her and she became a house pig. Unfortunately, the woman died and the farmer threw Pig-pig back in with the other pigs who picked on her. Luckily, the woman's family arrived and they knew how much the woman had loved Pig-pig. They were able to find a safe haven for Pig-pig at the Wilderness Ranch.
Since she had been picked on by other pigs, Pig-pig was kept separate from all the other pigs--until wee Keagan came along--just tipping the scale at 125 lbs (and I thought he was big back then! ha!). Pig-pig, Keagan, and I became great friends. I went to visit my boy every weekend. Pig-pig thought I was great because I always brought treats and hung out with them. Sometimes I'd even fall asleep with them (using Keagan as a pillow).
After I bought my house and Keagan and Sebastian came home--I didn't get to see Pig-pig as often, but she still remembered me when I went up to visit. When the WR closed down the pigs went to live at Woodstock Sanctuary in New York. There Pig-pig lived out her days receiving the best of care.
Those of us who were lucky enough to know Pig-pig--loved her very much.
So, my dear Pig-pig, I am sure you are watching over sweet Winnie. We will see you both at the bridge someday.
