OK - so weighing a pig is not an exact science (at least in absence of a scale!).
On the ticker above, I initially started Daisy at 250 lbs, based on our guess-timate on the day I picked her up. I set a goal of 125 lbs, based on Pinky's weight plus 25 lbs ... figuring Daisy might always carry some extra fat or skin .... we'll see.
Altho I can tell by looking at her that Daisy has lost weight, I wanted to know how much! So, the other day I finally got around to measuring her. I had a hog weight tape, which measures her length, heart girth, and assigns a weight based on her "build" (I assessed her at "short"). It told me she weighed 249 lbs. I measured her again, and plugged the dimensions into the formula Kim gave me - and it said 246 lbs.
So, my only conclusion is that our initial estimate was Way Off. I have no amended the ticker to reflect a start weight of 275 lbs - but that is prob high. In any case, from this point forward, I will use both dimensional methods and average them (monthly or thereabouts) to track her weight loss.
I am going to try and take some more pics over the w/e - Daisy is def getting "dents" where she didn't have them before, and there is more daylight under her than in the beginning. A long, slow road!
