Sorry haven't posted for a while - life is busy!
About one week ago, I went out to do morning chores with my daughter and there was Daisy - standing at the gate of her pen, looking towards us coming across the yard with (dare I say?) an air of excitement about her! So, I opened the gate to let her out into the yard and SHE CAME OUT! Ok - only about 4 feet, before she went back inside. But it was OUT!
Since then she has meandered out maybe 6 feet or so before going back into her shady pen. Maybe she doesn't like the heat. She does seem more active as the days cool a bit; plus she seems to be moving so much more easily lately! But she seems to enjoy lying in the morning sun, just inside her big door, where the sun streams in. Often she has a hen with her (or two!).
Yesterday she took a few big mouthfuls of grass, and I thought we were over the hump, but she didn't venture further. This morning I put her food ball (with puffed wheat inside) strategically in front of the door, so that when she nudged it, it would roll outside. She followed it a bit, but gave up. Sigh. All in her own good time, I guess!
Have been trying to get her measured to update her weight - but she has decided the tape tickles and gets all jumpy about it.
Have started her on Heartland's skin & coat supplement, and the spray conditioner - hopefully will help her dry skin . She doesn't seem to mind the fine misting.
Pics soon! Am way behind on downloading from my camera!
