National Pig Day March 1 (Saturday)
Pig lovers of the Chicagoland area will be in hog heaven during Brookfield Zoo’s annual National Pig Day celebration—held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. First created in 1972 by two sisters, Ellen Stanley of Texas and Mary Lynne Rave of North Carolina, the day celebrates and appreciates one of the most intelligent of the farmyard animals—the pig.
Guests can enjoy a parade led by the pink Pigmobile, several pig-related activities, live children’s music, and the chance to see Pinto, a Yucatan miniature pig, show off his natural behaviors by doing some unique activities, including playing basketball and retrieving objects!
Visit www.BrookfieldZoo.org or call (708) 688-8000 for more s-pig-tacular details on National Pig Day.
