Feeding Time at the Tusk & Bristle

The T&B feeds about 2 tons of produce per week, cast-off from grocery stores and picked up 4x/wk. Jim has a slick system for unloading the heavy cans from his truck:



The produce is then sorted: packaging is removed, food unsuitable for pigs is separated for composting (limes, lemons, etc), and the rest is sorted into pails for the smaller groups of pigs, and a ground-driven manure spreader (beaters removed) for the main group of pigs. The pigs also receive some pellets and dog kibble to round out their menu.

It is so much fun to watch the pigs trail along behind the ATV, snatching up their favourite things. Big and little pigs all seem to share peacefully - probably becuase there is so much to go around!
